The Brain Aneurysm Foundation has announced the appointment of three new members to its Medical Advisory Board. The members are Bernard R Bendok, Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, Paul J Camarata, University of Kansas, and Aaron A Cohen-Fadol, Goodman Campbell Brain and Spine.
The Brain Aneurysm Foundation Medical Advisory Board is composed of neurologists, neurosurgeons, and interventional neuroradiologists from around the United States. These doctors provide continued expertise and support to the Foundation throughout the year.
“We are so grateful that these world-renowned doctors have agreed to be part of our Medical Advisory Board,” said Christine Buckley, executive director of The Brain Aneurysm Foundation. “The work of the board is critical as we continue our mission of providing critical awareness, education, support and research funding in an effort to reduce the incidence of brain aneurysm ruptures.”
Each of the new Medical Advisory Board members has significant experience and expertise, including:
- Bernard R. Bendok is an associate professor of Neurological Surgery and Radiology at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. His clinical interests include: cerebrovascular surgery; endovascular, microsurgical and minimally invasive skull base techniques to treat aneurysm, AVM, dural and spinal fistulae, carotid disease, brain tumors, meningiomas, NF2, acoustic neuroma, skull base diseases, stroke and cavernoma; carotid stenting and endarterectomy; intracranial and vertebral artery angioplasty and stenting.
- Paul J Camarata is a neurological surgeon at the University of Kansas Hospital. His clinical interests include: brain aneurysm, skull base surgery, spinal disorders and diseases, Von Hippel Lindau disease, Moya Moya disease, seizure surgery, brain tumors, stereotactic neurosurgery, brain cancer, neurosurgery, cerebrovascular surgery, general neurosurgery, spine tumor, epilepsy and vascular neurosurgery.
- Aaron A Cohen-Gadol is a neurosurgeon with Goodman Campbell Brain and Spine, affiliated with Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital and St Vincent Hospital. Cohen’s specialty areas include: skull base and cerebrovascular surgery, epilepsy surgery and brain mapping, trigeminal neuralgia (facial pain), hemifacial spasm, and complex intracranial surgery. Cohen has been instrumental in launching The Brain Aneurysm Foundation series of webinars, providing crucial information and support to thousands of aneurysm patients worldwide.
