Following a session that saw neurointerventional experts deliberate the best and worst of randomised controlled trials (RCTs) in the field’s recent history, NeuroNews caught up with Tommy Andersson (Karolinska University Hospital, Stockholm, Sweden) at the 2026 European Society of Minimally Invasive Neurological Therapy (ESMINT) congress (2–4 September, Marseille, France) to discuss what makes a ‘good’ or ‘bad’ RCT. In this video, Andersson also provides examples from both sides of this equation, and outlines the long-lasting ramifications that a poorly designed trial can have for clinical practice.
