WFITN 2019: Homogeneous organisation of stroke care across countries is next “major challenge”

Mario Muto (Naples, Italy), president of WFITN 2019 (World Federation of Interventional and Therapeutic Neuroradiology; 21-24 October; Naples, Italy), talks to BLearning Neuro about challenges in the neuroradiology field.

Muto says that while endovascular, minimally invasive treatments being offered to treat stroke patients is growing across geographies, and is currently “working very well”, organisation of stroke care remains heterogeneous, and a challenge. To get the best results for stroke patients requires coordination of treatment with the emergency services and speedy admission of the patients in a hospital, he adds, emphasising that the organisation of stroke care services in different countries is vastly different.
