The European Society of Minimally Invasive Neurological Therapy (ESMINT) has welcomed five additional national societies to its council of affiliated societies through multiple newly announced memorandums of understanding (MoUs).

The five societies in question are the Belgian Society for Interventional and Therapeutical Neuroradiology (BSITN); Society of Interventional Radiology and Minimally Invasive Therapy in Bosnia and Herzegovina (SIRMIT BH); Portuguese Society of Interventional Neuroradiology (SPNI); Society of Interventional Radiology of North Macedonia (SIRNM); and Serbian Society of Neuroradiology (UNRS).

As noted in a press release, these partnerships build on ESMINT’s existing collaborations with the French Society of Neuroradiology (SFNR), the German Society of Neuroradiology (DGNR), and the Finnish Society of NeuroInterventionalists (FSNI), bringing the total number of national societies in its council to eight.

The new partnerships were officially announced at the 2026 ESMINT congress (2–4 September, Marseille, France), where ESMINT president Christian Taschner (University Medical Center Freiburg, Freiburg, Germany) welcomed representatives of these societies on stage.

“Closer collaboration with national societies strengthens our European neurointerventional community,” Taschner commented. “By sharing expertise, widening access to scientific resources, and creating more opportunities for exchange, we can better support our members in their work and our shared commitment to improving patient care.”

These MoUs—ESMINT states—provide a framework for closer collaboration between the society and its national partners. Through mutual access to platforms, scientific resources and exclusive membership discounts, the partnerships support members in exchanging knowledge and engaging with the wider European neurointerventional community.

By strengthening connections between national societies and ESMINT, the network creates further opportunities to share expertise and support professional development. These collaborations reflect a shared commitment to supporting practitioners and enhancing patient care across Europe, ESMINT’s press release adds.
